Elections

In order to further advance the profession of navigation, the leadership council has determined that the time has come for elections to be held to further grow the organization. With over 1,900 members we are looking for a few volunteers to help shape the future of AONN. If you are interested in this opportunity please review the eligibility criteria below and complete the nomination form shown. Nominations are due no later than Wednesday, December 7, and must be submitted by the nominee.

PRESIDENT

REPORTS TO:
Membership and the board of directors

DESCRIPTION:
Elected by the membership as chief executive officer and chair of board of directors

PURPOSE:
Manages the organization and acts as official representative

TERM LENGTH:
2 years, with no more than 2 consecutive terms

ELIGIBILITY:        

  • Has a minimum of 18 months of consecutive membership in AONN.
  • Possesses 2 years of previous leadership experience in a professional society at a national or local level.
  • Currently holds a position as a navigator or in a management position of navigation staff/services, with a minimum of 3 years, navigation experience.
  • Does not have any commitments on a national level as an officer of another healthcare professional society during entirety of term.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Appoints committee chairs and project team leaders when assuming office and periodically as needed, after approval by board of directors.
  2. Assigns board members to be liaison to committees/teams when assuming office and periodically as needed.
  3. Assures that AONN office distributes policy and procedures manual to board and chairs/team leaders.
  4. Assigns liaisons to represent AONN with other organizations.
  5. Represents AONN at various meetings with vice president, if feasible.
  6. Represents AONN at meetings of other organizations or designates an alternative.
  7. Writes welcoming message for the national conference program book.
  8. Responds to correspondence on behalf of AONN or delegates that correspondence to the most appropriate individual.
  9. Determines board and membership meeting agendas.
  10. Regularly reviews all committee/team and board activities and presents new ideas/information to appropriate persons.
  11. Reports to board and membership on meetings attended on behalf of AONN.
  12. Writes quarterly “President’s” message for each newsletter as per copy deadline established by newsletter editor.
  13. Prepares annual report for presentation at annual membership meeting.
  14. Presents certificates of appreciation to outgoing board and committee chairs/team leaders at annual business meeting.
  15. Presents certificates of appreciation to individuals who have completed projects, etc. for AONN.
  16. At end of term, presents certificates of appreciation to most important supporters.
  17. Facilitates performance evaluation of management firm in collaboration with executive director, board of directors, and committee chairs.

President’s Benefits:

  1. The president will receive complimentary registration and a suite for the annual AONN conference.
  2. The president will receive funds for travel and lodging when representing AONN at various meetings.
VICE PRESIDENT

REPORTS TO:

President

DESCRIPTION:
Elected by membership; member of board of directors for two years

PURPOSE:
Assists the president by overseeing special projects and being a committee member/project team liaison as determined by the president. In the event of disability of the president or other emergency, the vice president serves in the role of president.

TERM LENGTH:
2 years, with no more than 2 consecutive terms

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Has a minimum of 18 months of consecutive membership in AONN.
  • Possesses 2 years of previous leadership experience in a professional society at a national or local level.
  • Currently holds a position as a navigator or in a management position of navigation staff/services, with a minimum of 3 years navigation experience.
  • Does not have any commitments on a national level as an officer of another healthcare professional society during entirety of term.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Participates in program development of AONN.
  2. Reviews and revises the Policy and Procedure Manual immediately after each board meeting as indicated.
  3. Supervises semi-annual Policy and Procedure Manual update.
  4. Reviews and updates the board orientation packet.
  5. Represents AONN at various meetings with vice president, if feasible.
  6. Presides at meetings in the absence of the president.
