Join a Committee

In order to fulfill the mission and vision of the academy, AONN is forming four committees:

  • Membership: The focus of this committee is to determine how to best serve our current members, as well as to develop strategies to increase membership. Areas that fall under this committee are chapters/affiliates, partnerships, and member benefits.

  • Education: Two main areas fall under this committee are professional and patient education. This committee will guide the academy in determining what continuing education activities should be provided to members, including at the annual conference. In addition, patient education is a key focus for this committee to further patient understanding of the complexity of cancer care and the role of patient navigation.

  • Advocacy: Community outreach is extremely necessary to promote the importance of patient navigation in cancer care. This committee will collaborate to determine how best to advocate for the profession of patient navigation and patients. Additionally, any fundraising activities will also be determined and lead by this committee.

  • Research: A key component to validating the role of patient navigation in cancer care is to further research on how patient navigation fits into and benefits the overall care of patients. This committee will develop a research agenda and assist in the fulfillment of that agenda. Additionally the members of this committee will sit on the editorial advisory board and assist with the review and direction of the Journal of Oncology Navigation & Survivorship.
