Tina Scherer navigates difficult case through multidisciplinary channels

Tina Scherer, RN, MSN, OCN discussed a challenging case of an out-of-state excitable 47-year-old uninsured female patient. The patient presents with extreme pain she thought was from previously diagnosed sarcoma, but has not been able to build a relationship with her previous physician. As a navigator integral in this patient’s multidisciplinary care, Tina first addressed her emotional and insurance issues, and as the opinion swung from recommended surgery to a diagnosis of non malignant interosseus lipoma, Tina met with the cardiology, neurology, imaging, rehab, dietician teams to have this patient fully treated, documented, and released.
