New Jersey Local Navigation Network

Local Navigator Networks

Mission: The mission of the New Jersey Local Navigation Network is to provide networking and educational opportunities for local oncology navigators and those supporting navigator roles in the Emerson, NJ area and surrounding towns as well as near suburbs in the New York City metropolitan area. The focus will be promoting and developing best practices in patient navigation and improving access to cancer care and quality of life for cancer survivors from the time of diagnosis, through treatment, and beyond. We strongly believe in the need for both referral and recognition of oncology rehabilitation and the positive affect rehabilitation (PT/OT) during and after cancer care to help oncology patients get back to living their best lives.

Vision: The vision of the New Jersey Local Navigation Network Advocacy Group of AONN+ is to build relationships among all oncology navigators and supporting roles to enhance patient-centered care from diagnosis through survivorship by partnering with local oncology resources. A supporting concept will be sharing cancer knowledge, expertise, resources, networking, and education to meet the local needs of the patients and survivors to provide excellence of care. Additionally, we would like to “bridge the gap” between rehabilitation services and local oncology provioders/resources.

Objectives:

  • Hold quarterly meetings in the New Jersey and bistate vicinity
  • Develop partnerships across this region to establish regional needs and goals to ensure proper communication and sharing of resources with minimal boundaries
  • Send two local representatives to the AONN+ Annual Conference
  • Provide AONN+ with updates from meetings/interactions on a quarterly basis
